The Margaret Murray Washington Career High School (MM Washington) is located in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington DC. Built in 1912, the school is part of a cluster of African American schools constructed around the same time as middle class African American families, who were restricted from living in other sections of the city by restrictive covenants, moved into the neighborhood in the late nineteenth century. The building will be developed into 90+ units of affordable senior housing, The House of Lebanon, and 15,000 s.f. of community space with an estimated project cost of $25 to $30 million. Capitol Engineering Group is the MEP engineer for this project.
